    Oscar,

You were truly a blessing to so many lives and I only wish we could have gotten to experience that smile and your talents longer. So much potential gone too soon. Your smile lit up this team, this family, and this game. Keep on playing up there in heaven for us. You will be missed every single day.

    To the families,
Praying for you all daily. I know words don’t mean much but you are in our thoughts and prayers around the world. Two precious lives gone too soon. God bless.

I took my 6 year old son to the game Oscar Taveras made his MLB debut in on 5/31/14 against the Giants. My son witnessed the first HR he had ever seen at an MLB game that day. This was hit by OT. Immediately following the HR was a rain delay and we experienced another rain delay before the game ended. This was the first game I had taken my son that he wanted to watch and learn about the game. It was also the first game he did not ask to go home once! Including rain delay, this meant we were at the stadium for over 6 hours! I firmly believe the excitement of that HR helped keep his focus on the game. I will always remember this as the first game my son was interested in and believe Oscar helped make it so special. My thoughts are with the families of Oscar and Edilia.

May you rest in peace Oscar. Seems selfish to think about baseball in a time like this, but can’t help to think what could’ve been. You will be dearly missed.

Oscar and that winning smile will truly be missed. The Cardinals are more than a baseball team, it’s a family that revolves around our players. Our family has suffered a great loss. My condolences goes out to the family and friends of Oscar Taveras and his girlfriend, the St. Louis Cardinals front office and players, and to the fans as we all mourn the passing of this wonderful young man!

Oscar blew me away with his pure talent and love for the game. Starting out I could see that he was going to be a star, and he did not disappoint. Such a bright soul was taken from us too soon. He will always live on in the hearts of his family and friends, but also cardinal nation. I offer the most sincere condolences to his family. I hope they realize how much he meant to all of cardinal nation. Fly high cardinal!

The Cardinals were so lucky to have met this young man and make him a part of the team, the family. My husband watched his MLB debut and knew we were going to love him. My husband adored him! Oscar Taveras was his favorite player and he would get so excited when he got to play. The loss of such a young, yet amazing player is tragic. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Oscar and his young girlfriend’s families. Taveras will never be forgotten in Cardinal Nation!!

Cardinals fans saw but mere flickers of his greatness-to-be – and he would have been one a great one, I’m sure. Few players coming up the St. Louis ladder to MLB have had so much pressure on them to perform so well, so quickly. Some people take to the big league spotlight; others are a bit blinded by it. Oscar’s game-typing home run in Game 2 of the NLDS showed that he had finally “turned the corner”; he saw the light ….

The news shatters us – all. Rest eternally, Oscar. We loved you – if only for a short time.

I’ve been a Cardinals fan my entire life and had been very excited about Oscar being a Cardinal since 2008 when Mo first met him. I was lucky enough to be at his first major league game and despite the rain delays, the electricity in the building when he was at the plate was comparable to Big Mac in ’98.

Later in the year, we were in Milwaukee to see Oscar hit his 3rd Homerun of his career. When I saw it go over the fence, never did I think that I would have seen half of his career homeruns live…

Cannot believe someone who brought so much hope is gone so soon. Always remember that God has a plan, and that this Cardinals team will play in memory of Oscar every time they step of the field next season. He will be missed by every fan of baseball and especially of the St Louis Cardinals.

After hearing the news of Oscars passing last night I was overwhelmed with disbelief and sadness. Being a part of Cardinal Nation, these players become like family members to us. This is not only a loss for our Cardinals, this is a huge loss for the game of baseball. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Taveras family, Cardinals clubhouse, and all of Cardinal Nation. Thanks for your impact on the game Oscar even though it was way too short lived, we will never forget the talent you brought to the Cardinals and the game! RIP Oscar…

A bright shooting star was seen last night as one bright star lost his life. A life cut short but noticed by all. As I will remember him as a ball player please remember he was a 22 year old son. Just a kid! May God pick you up, and give ever lasting peace. And the family lean on each other and find their prayers answered.

Oscar had so much potential and was on his way to a great career. I remember his first career big league homerun, he got a curtain call. It was one of the coolest things to see in baseball. I was really looking forward to seeing him crush homers in a long career. He will truly be missed, by his team and not only Cardinals fans but baseball fans in general. My thoughts and prayers are with Oscar and his girlfriend’s families and friends. RIP

I, along with the entirety of the Cardinal organization, seen Oscar’s potential to be the shining star that Cardinal Nation needed. I seen him as a symbol of hope for what was to come for St. Louis once Pujols left. He was going to be something special in the bird’s nest. The kind of quality driven person that I hoped would set even higher standards and stability to the Cardinal Clubhouse. This truly is a tragic loss. Lets saddle up and play our hearts out for Taveras in 2015!

My family and I wish to send condolences to Oscar”s family and his girlfriend’s family. Truly a tragedy. I know Oscar had an amazing life ahead of him in the MLB with our Cardinals. I can only imagine how beautiful of a life he would have had outside of the MLB. His girlfriend having chosen to be with Oscar was more than likely a special woman. Her life potential I am sure would have been wondeful as well. I do hope peace can be found for both families. My heart bleeds for them. Life is so precious and far from in our hands. RIP in peace Oscar and his girlfriend.
