Oscar was one of the most exciting players to watch because of his immense potential. He had such a bright future, but in this moment that really isn’t important. He will be missed by his family, his friends, his teammates, his organization, and his sport. My prayers go out to his family and the family of his girlfriend. They are going through the toughest time right now. Rest in peace Oscar.

He may not have been the star of the team, but Oscar was one of those rookies that made a name for himself by playing like a veteran. He will live on in not only my memory, but the rest of Major League Baseball’s memories as well. My deepest condolences and prayers go out to his family, friends, and the rest of the Cardinals roster. We’ll never forget you, Oscar!

There aren’t any words to make up for the memories we might have made or for the life of a friend that we lost. He will truly be missed and I will never forget the great moments he had in his short but memorable time with Cardinal Nation. RIP Oscar Taveras

I was fortunate enough to watch Oscar play in Memphis and grow into his own as an athlete and as a person. I can’t remember the last time I saw a guy that genuinely loved the game as much as he did. Win or lose Oscar always had a smile on his face and that alone made you realize that this guy was special. To say what could have been is irrelevant at this point, what I do know is this: Oscar Taveras made an impact on people that went far beyond baseball, his impact was personal and intentional. Today I mourn with all of baseball, The Taveras family and Cardinal Nation. Touch me’ all Oscar…you deserve it.

It is so hard to find the words as to how a person feels when we lose someone so young and talented. Maybe just the words Oscar, you will be truly missed both in your personal life and your life as a Cardinal. May your family and the family of your girl friend be helped with their grief in knowing that you were loved and respected by so many people. You will always be a Cardinal in the minds of all Cardinal fans.

Oscar started out his first season in the Majors with a home run and sadly his last at home game with another home run in a crucial play off game.
His smile was huge , he celebrated the playoffs with pride and the talent he has is within his soul for baseball.
I’m very sorry and heart broken over his loss. My grand boys are 6 and 4 and I instilled the players , positions and numbers in them. So for every at bat when the games air in New York or when we went to a game in Queens or in St. Louis they call their names and cheer them on one by one . Oscar had an awesome standing ovation from those little boys and myself on that playoff day! Oscar , rest in peace. To your family my thoughts and prayers are with you. To the Cardinal Nation, players and organization may your pain and tears fade with time . You’re all in my thoughts. I’m heartbroken.

All of Cardinal Nation aches in mourning Oscar’s tragic, untimely death. We could all see the talent, and the passion. We were pulling for him to realize his full potential. My son & I were fortunate to be at Busch for Oscar’s scintillating home-run in NLCS Game 2. I am grateful it is the image of that line-drive HR, and his joyful, home-run cruise around the bases, which will be our in our memories forever.
My prayers and deepest condolences to the families and dear friends of Oscar and Edilia.
