I will never forget being there for Oscar’s game tying HR in game 2 of the NLCS this past postseason. He was the future of the game. Major League Baseball has lost an incredible talent. RIP

Heaven gained one heck of a ball player. Oscar had so much potential & great years ahead of him. He was such an asset to the team. Cardinal Nation will miss him dearly. I’m still in disbelief. I continue to see the posts and articles everywhere but don’t want to believe what i’m seeing. His first game amazed me just as it did the rest of you. I’m thankful for having an opportunity to see him play, with his limited minutes as a PH against the dodgers in the NLDS. Oscar was beginning to break out during the postseason and it’s such a shame his career and life had to end so soon, heartbreaking to say the least. Hitting home runs in his first and last game at Busch will be something i’ll never forget. The kid loved the game and loved life, you could see it on his face.Cardinal Nation is a family, our bond with each other is second to none. We connect with our players even though we may not actually know them personally. OT18 will never be forgotten, RIP Oscar. Both families are in my prayers.

There is nothing I can say right now that will even begin to lessen the pain felt by both of the families involved in this tragedy. I will say how much of a privilege it was to watch Oscar play. He went about it the right way, playing like a young man who realized it was a game to be enjoyed, not a job to work. You were here for such a short time, yet left so many memories that we can cherish. Thank you Oscar. Cardinal Nation will never forget you and we’ll all be praying for you, your girlfriend, and your friends and families. Rest in peace.

ive never met Oscar Taveras in my life but as a cardinal fan he was most definitely family by a thin very stretched out connection. I love this team and was speechless when I read the ESPN alert in my phone. He’s going to always be remembered as a cardinal.

First hit of your MLB career. The thunderous clap of the ball hitting your bat broke open the skies and it began to rain. On October 26, 2014, you made it rain again, with the tears from Cardinal Nation, family, friends and fans all around the world mourning your untimely passing. So here’s to you Oscar. Here is to the player we all knew you were going to be on and off the field. Here is to the next time you make it rain. Cardinal Nation will not forget! #OT18

Still shocked. Why does it always happen to people who are so young?

As a baseball fan, we’ll all be left wondering what could have been. Watching talented young players is a great thing. It’s a shame we won’t get to see that talent develop further, but the bigger tragedy is wondering what could have been in his personal life.

To Oscar’s/his girlfriend’s family/friends, and to Oscar’s current/former Cardinals teammates: I am so very sorry for your loss. May you find the strength to get through this difficult time.

It’s really unbelievable. Oscar was only a year older than me and was able to make a long lasting impact on his team, the city of Saint Louis, and baseball as a whole.

I’ll never forget watching his first hit, sail over the right field wall. I was so proud of him. I knew he was going to be a great figure for our team and I know I was not the only one thinking that either.

We love you Oscar and you will be missed dearly. Thanks for impacting us with your good spirits and smile.

    We love you oscar,

Oscar was fun to watch. His smile and excitement for the game were contagious. As a family member of Cardinal Nation my heart is broken but it doesn’t come close to what his friends, team, and family must be feeling. I’m praying for all of them as they walk this road in goodbye. A goodbye that came far too soon to a young man with more talent than will ever be truly known. I am also praying for his girlfriend’s family and friends as well because I know they also must be hurting and he would not want Cardinal nation to forget about her. God Bless!

I couldn’t wait for Oscar to be called up this year because I needed depth in my fantasy baseball outfield. I was looking forward for him to be the great player we all expected. But now I’m sure he’s getting his cuts in against Nick Adenhart and Thurman Munson behind the plate. I’m sure Stan The Man is giving him a few tips. Rest easy buddy.

Oscar’s life was filled with so much promise, and we’re left to wonder what might have been. I can only imagine how much more difficult that must be to process for his loved ones.

Cardinals nation lost a family member. Thank you, Oscar, for the excitement you provided to so many people.
